This year in honour of our 30 years of Aussie Angler trips to New Zealand, we offer two to three weeks fishing the mighty Tongariro River and surrounds. Staying at the famous Tongariro Lodge, choose either 7-14 August or 14-21 of August ( we may run 1-7 as well).
The Tongariro offers so much diversity of angling that choosing your approach can be hard! So come along and learn about how to approach the Tongariro and the rivers around. Included in this trip is;
Share villas accommodation at the lodge- allowing you to walk just a hundred or so metres to fish
Breakfast and dinner meals, shared as a group. Lunch is usually purchased at the local bakery- fine regional NZ fare and sure to keep you full & happy.
Car hire is usually 2-3 anglers per car, we collect at the airport in Auckland and drive down to the Turangi town. This allows for the group to break up, fish different areas and enjoy different styles of fishing.
We will take you on a tour of the fishing areas, provide maps and hints on how to approach and fish differing areas. AT the house we can go through gear and ways to fish. Euronymphing the bigger water and how to do it, swinging wet flies, fishing with two handed Spey or Scandi style rods, nymph below dropper, and more.
We can be available to cover many scenarios and options. If you would like a day or two guided by local guides and access water we otherwise cannot, just advise and we can arrange- using local guides is a must. We do not offer guiding, just general fishing upskills and advice.
